Derek Jarman has been an inspirational and influential figure for as long as I can remember. Over the past several years I have been developing a series of projects that explore his legacy on my own work, life and the world around me.
"Consider the world's diversity and worship it!"
HORNPIPE
Twenty-one sailors and a golden Goddess. Three days in February 1979, during the snowed-in filming of Derek Jarman's 'The Tempest'. 'Hornpipe' is an ongoing project with the intention of identifying, tracing, interviewing (where possible) and celebrating the assortment of men who appeared as dancing sailors in Derek Jarman’s 1979 film of 'The Tempest' as well as other collaborators on the film. A social history, a love letter, a summoning of spirits.
